Blackberry Jam

Blackberry Jam

Blackberry Jam recipe

Ingredients

  • 1.25kg blackberries
  • Finely grated zest and juice of 2/3 large limes or 1/2 lemons
  • 1.25kg jam sugar (with added pectin)
  • You will also need a sugar thermometer

Method

  1. Put the berries, lime/lemon zest and juice into a large pan and cook over a low heat, stirring now and then, until the berries are soft and plenty of juice has been released. Press gently with a potato masher to release even more juice and break up some of the fruit, but don’t reduce all the berries to pulp.
  2. Add the sugar, then stir for about 10 minutes until the sugar dissolves. This is important to prevent the jam from crystallising during storage. Increase the heat, then boil steadily for 7 minutes until setting point is reached 105°C.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat, skim the scum off the surface. Leave for 5 minutes for the fruit to settle down into the syrup. Stir well, pour the hot jam into warm sterilised jars (put Jars in oven set at 40 for 15 mins) then immediately cover with waxed discs and lids. Label, then store in a cool, dark place.

  • The intersection of fashion and art is another fascinating aspect of the industry. Fashion often draws inspiration from various art forms, including painting, sculpture, and architecture, resulting in garments that are not only functional but also artistic expressions. Collaborations between fashion designers and artists have produced some of the most iconic and memorable pieces in fashion history. For instance, the collaboration between Yves Saint Laurent and Piet Mondrian resulted in the famous Mondrian dress, which combined the geometric abstraction of Mondrian’s paintings with the elegance of couture. Such collaborations highlight the symbiotic relationship between fashion and art, where both fields inspire and elevate each other.https://soulshinewedding.com/premium-paper/

  • Cultural appropriation remains a contentious issue in the fashion world. Designers often draw inspiration from diverse cultures, but this can sometimes lead to accusations of insensitivity and exploitation. The line between appreciation and appropriation can be thin, and the debate continues over how to respectfully incorporate cultural elements into fashion. It is crucial for designers to acknowledge the origins of their inspirations and give credit where it is due. Collaborations with artisans from different cultures can lead to more authentic and respectful representations, fostering a more inclusive industry.https://soulshinewedding.com/design-guide/

  • Fashion education and research contribute significantly to the industry’s evolution. Institutions like the Fashion Institute of Technology, Central Saint Martins, and Parsons School of Design have nurtured countless talented designers who have gone on to shape global trends. Academic research in fashion explores various aspects, from historical analyses to studies on textile technology and sustainability. This scholarly approach not only enhances our understanding of fashion’s role in society but also drives innovation and critical thinking within the industry. Through education and research, fashion continues to evolve, responding to the changing needs and values of society.https://soulshinewedding.com/wedding-gifts/
